Advanced Physiotherapist Dr Joanne Bullock-Saxton has practiced for nearly four decades. She spent her early career in academic research before shifting her focus to clinical practice. She was drawn by the direct impact she could have on people living with persistent pain. Her work includes migraine and other long-standing pain that hasn’t responded to treatment.
Joanne chooses to work both with patients individually and as part of a coordinated team. In Sandstone’s Yeerongpilly Migraine Clinic, she works alongside neurologist Dr Carolyn Erie and GP Dr Jamie Nuttall to support people earlier in their care.
This model allows people to begin non-pharmacological strategies while waiting for specialist review, rather than navigating long periods without support. When patients know their practitioners are talking to each other, they feel held in a community of care—and that, in itself, is therapeutic.
Joanne says: ‘Physios get to connect with our patients, not only by listening and speaking, but by touch—and that is a very therapeutic medium. People living with persistent pain or migraine often need to be heard and validated, not just managed. I want to help people discover themselves in the physical realm – to understand what their body is doing, see what’s possible again, and flourish.’
We’re passionate about good health.
This means our whole team – GPs, nurses, allied health, specialists – work together to give you the time and attention you need. We get to know you, earn your trust, and use our combined specialties to offer new and improved models of care.
Our team sees this as a partnership with you because you know your own life best. And with each other, because great healthcare isn’t a solo act.
As a not-for-profit practice, we invest profits back into bringing fairness and quality healthcare to the communities who need it.
We put our passion into practice because that’s what the best healthcare needs.
